SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Makes appropriations for the ordinary and contingent
expenses of the Illinois Arts Council for the fiscal year
beginning July 1, 2023, as follows:

Federal Funds $ 1,325,000

AN ACT concerning appropriations. 1
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented 2
in the General Assembly: 3
ARTICLE 1 4
Section 1. The sum of $1, 838,000, or so much thereof as 5
may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund 6
to the Illinois Arts Counci l for operational expenses for the 7
fiscal year ending June 30, 202 4. 8
Section 5. The following named sums, or so much thereof 9
as may be necessary, respectively, for the objects and purposes 10
hereinafter named, are appropriated to the Illinois Arts 11
Council to enhance the cultural environment in Illinois: 12
Payable from General Revenue Fund: 13
For Grants and Financial Assistance for 14
Creative Sector (Arts Organizations and 15
Individual Artists) ............................. 5,659,300 16
For Grants and Financial Assistance for 17
Underserved Constituencies ....................... 1,232,000 18
For Grants and Financial Assistance for 19
Arts Education ................................ ...1,715,800 20

For Grants and Programs to Enhance 3
the Cultural Environment ......................... 1,250,000 4
Section 10. The sum of $1, 100,000, or so much thereof as 5
may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund 6
to the Illinois Arts Council for the purpose of funding 7
administrative and grant expenses ass ociated with programs 8
supporting the visual arts, performing arts, languages, and 9
related activities. 10
Section 15. The amount of $1, 657,800, or so much thereof 11
as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue 12
Fund to the Illinois Arts Council for grants to certain public 13
radio and television stations and related administrative 14
expenses, pursuant to the Public Radio and Television Grant 15
Act. 16
Section 20. In addition to other amounts appropriated for 17
this purpose, the following named s um, or so much thereof as 18
may be necessary, respectively, for the object and purpose 19
hereinafter named, is appropriated to the Illinois Arts Council 20
to enhance the cultural environment in Illinois: 21

administrative costs ................................ 75,000 3
Section 25. The sum of $6 60,000, or so much thereof as may 4
be necessary, is appropriated for a grant from the General 5
Revenue Fund to the Illinois Arts Council to the Illinois 6
Humanities Council. 7
Section 30. The sum of $ 907,500, or so much thereof as may 8
be necessary, is appropriated for a grant from the General 9
Revenue Fund to the Illinois Arts Council for arts and foreign 10
language programming i n schools. 11
Section 35. The sum of $375,000, or so much thereof as may
be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to
the Illinois Arts Council for administrative costs.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 12
2023. 13
