Provides that the definition of "authorized emergency vehicle" includes emergency vehicles of municipal departments or public service corporations as are designated or authorized by proper State or county authorities. Provides that the definition of "police vehicle" includes any vehicle, recreational off-highway vehicle, all-terrain vehicle, watercraft, aircraft, bicycle, or electric personal assistive mobility device that is designated or authorized by proper State or county authorities for police use. 1  AN ACT concerning transportation.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by
5  changing Sections 1-105 and 1-162.3 as follows:
6  (625 ILCS 5/1-105) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-105)
7  Sec. 1-105. Authorized emergency vehicle. Emergency
8  vehicles of municipal departments or public service
9  corporations as are designated or authorized by proper State,
10  county, or local authorities; police vehicles; vehicles of the
11  fire department; vehicles of a HazMat or technical rescue team
12  authorized by a county board under Section 5-1127 of the
13  Counties Code; ambulances; vehicles of the Illinois Department
14  of Corrections; vehicles of the Illinois Department of
15  Juvenile Justice; vehicles of the Illinois Emergency
16  Management Agency; vehicles of the Office of the Illinois
17  State Fire Marshal; mine rescue and explosives emergency
18  response vehicles of the Department of Natural Resources;
19  vehicles of the Illinois Department of Public Health; vehicles
20  of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority with a gross
21  vehicle weight rating of 9,000 pounds or more and those
22  identified as Highway Emergency Lane Patrol; vehicles of the
23  Illinois Department of Transportation identified as Emergency

1  Traffic Patrol; and vehicles of a municipal or county
2  emergency services and disaster agency, as defined by the
3  Illinois Emergency Management Agency Act.
