The Illinois Insurance Code is amended by 5 changing Section 356z.33 as follows: 6 (215 ILCS 5/356z.33) 7 Sec. 356z.33. Coverage for epinephrine injectors. 8 (a) A group or individual policy of accident and health 9 insurance or a managed care plan that is amended, delivered, 10 issued, or renewed on or after January 1, 2020 (the effective 11 date of Public Act 101-281) shall provide coverage for 12 medically necessary epinephrine injectors for persons 18 years 13 of age or under. As used in this Section, "epinephrine 14 injector" has the meaning given to that term in Section 5 of 15 the Epinephrine Injector Act. 16 (b) An insurer that provides coverage for medically 17 necessary epinephrine injectors shall limit the total amount 18 that an insured is required to pay for a twin-pack of medically 19 necessary epinephrine injectors at an amount not to exceed 20 $60, regardless of the type of epinephrine injector. 21 (c) Nothing in this Section prevents an insurer from 22 reducing an insured's cost sharing by an amount greater than 23 the amount specified in subsection (b).
