1  AN ACT concerning education.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5  2-3.204 as follows:
6  (105 ILCS 5/2-3.204 new)
7  Sec. 2-3.204. Air quality resources. The State Board of
8  Education shall, in consultation with the Department of Public
9  Health, compile resources for elementary and secondary schools
10  relating to indoor air quality in schools, including best
11  practices for assessing and maintaining ventilation systems
12  and information on any potential State or federal funding
13  sources that may assist a school in identifying ventilation
14  needs. The State Board of Education shall compile these
15  resources in consultation with stakeholders, including, but
16  not limited to, the Department of Public Health, local public
17  health professionals, ventilation professionals affiliated
18  with a Department of Labor apprenticeship program, licensed
19  design professionals, representatives from regional offices of
20  education, school district administrators, teachers, or any
21  other relevant professionals, stakeholders, or representatives
22  of State agencies. No later than 30 days after resources are
23  compiled under this Section, the State Board of Education

1  shall implement outreach strategies to make the compiled
2  resources available to elementary and secondary schools,
3  including publication of the compiled resources on the State
4  Board of Education's website. The State Board of Education
5  may, in consultation with the Department of Public Health or
6  any other relevant stakeholders, update the compiled resources
7  as necessary.
