Findings. The General Assembly finds that to 5 address the evolving needs of our mental health in schools a 6 new pathway to educator licensure is needed. The specialized 7 license created under this Act is designed for licensed Master 8 of Social Work professionals, allowing qualified professionals 9 to work within school settings without the requirement of a 10 Professional Educator License with a school support personnel 11 endorsement in the area of school social worker. This 12 innovative approach recognizes the diverse skills and 13 expertise that Master of Social Work professionals bring to 14 the field while ensuring a pathway for additional 15 specialization beyond obtaining a Professional Educator 16 License with a school support personnel endorsement in the 17 area of school social worker. 18 Section 10. The School Code is amended by changing 19 Sections 21B-20 and 21B-40 as follows: 20 (105 ILCS 5/21B-20) 21 Sec. 21B-20. Types of licenses.
