                    103RD GENERAL ASSEMBLY State of Illinois 2023 and 2024 SB2754 Introduced 1/16/2024, by Sen. Donald P. DeWitte SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: 105 ILCS 5/2-3.204 new Amends the State Board of Education Article of the School Code. Provides that, subject to appropriation, the State Board of Education shall pay one-half of the salary of an employee that is employed by a manufacturing company and working within a school district at a high school as a licensed career and technical education teacher. Provides that the school board of a school district that intends to hire a manufacturing employee shall first notify any labor organization that has entered into a collective bargaining agreement with the school district of the school board's intent to hire such an employee. Provides that if there are eligible employees in the applicable bargaining unit, then the school board shall offer to hire an employee who is a member of the applicable bargaining unit. Provides that if there are no eligible employees in the applicable bargaining unit, then the labor organization shall notify the school district and affirm that the position is unable to be filled by any members of the applicable bargaining unit. 1  AN ACT concerning education.
2  Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3  represented in the General Assembly:
4  Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
5  2-3.204 as follows:
6  (105 ILCS 5/2-3.204 new)
7  Sec. 2-3.204. Employing manufacturing employees. Subject
8  to appropriation, the State Board of Education shall pay
9  one-half of the salary of an employee that is employed by a
10  manufacturing company and working within a school district at
11  a high school as a licensed career and technical education
12  teacher.
13  The school board of a school district that intends to hire
14  a manufacturing employee under this Section shall first notify
15  any labor organization that has entered into a collective
16  bargaining agreement with the school district of the school
17  board's intent to hire such an employee. If there are eligible
18  employees in the applicable bargaining unit, then the school
19  board shall offer to hire an employee who is a member of the
20  applicable bargaining unit. If there are no eligible employees
