1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 congratulate Benjamin David "Ben" Jonen on the occasion of
4 achieving the coveted rank of Eagle Scout; and
5 WHEREAS, Eagle Scout is the highest award the National
6 Council of the Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, Ben Jonen was born to David and Dawn DeBlois
9 Jonen in Hanover Park; he attended Lincoln Prairie School and
10 graduated from Hoffman Estates High School in 2023; during
11 high school, he participated in the school band, played on the
12 volleyball team, and was a member of the National Honor
13 Society; and
14 WHEREAS, Ben Jonen's Eagle Scout project involved the
15 renovation and reconstruction of the maintenance shed at
16 Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hoffman Estates; after
17 receiving approval from church leadership, he helped raise the
18 funds needed for the renovation and reconstruction himself; he
19 then developed the work schedule, made lists of materials and
20 supplies required, and supervised the execution of the
21 project; and

1 WHEREAS, Ben Jonen plans to attend Loyola University in
2 Chicago with a focus on environment studies; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate
5 Benjamin David "Ben" Jonen on achieving the coveted rank of
6 Eagle Scout, and we wish him continued success in the future;
7 and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9 presented to Ben Jonen as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
