1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3 to learn of the death of Marion Thompson of Aledo, who passed
4 away on October 4, 2023; and
5 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was born to Allan and Opal
6 (Walton) Thompson in Mt. Vernon, Iowa on October 23, 1936;
7 after high school, he joined the U.S. Navy; and
8 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served the local community as an
9 auxiliary policeman for many years; he also worked as a
10 precision tool grinder for JI Case for 33 years; and
11 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson served as a scout leader and a
12 rock hunter with the Edwards River Rock Club; and
13 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson enjoyed restoring tractors and
14 lawn mowers, sandblasting, and gun collecting; and
15 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson was preceded in death by his
16 parents and his brother, Theodore Thompson; and
17 WHEREAS, Marion Thompson is survived by his wife, Kathryn
18 Thompson; his children, Karen (Robert) Albert, Patricia
19 Thompson, and Joshua Thompson; his grandchildren, Rob,

1 Stephen, and Courtney; his brother, Eugene Thompson; his
2 niece, Amber; and his nephew, Aaron; therefore, be it
3 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
4 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
5 Marion Thompson and extend our sincere condolences to his
6 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
7 further
