1 AN ACT concerning government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5 adding Section 136 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 490/136 new)
7 Sec. 136. Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Week. December 1
8 through December 7 of each year is designated as Crohn's and
9 Colitis Awareness Week as a week to invite and encourage all
10 people in Illinois to join the effort to find a cure for
11 Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, engage in activities
12 aimed at raising awareness of Crohn's disease and ulcerative
13 colitis among the public and health care providers, promote
14 and support biomedical research needed to find better
15 treatments and a cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative
16 colitis, encourage media organizations to participate in
17 Crohn's and Colitis Awareness Week by helping to educate the
18 public about Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, recognize
19 all people in Illinois living with Crohn's disease and
20 ulcerative colitis and express appreciation to the family
21 members and caregivers who support them, and commend the
22 dedication of health care professionals and biomedical
23 researchers who care for patients with Crohn's disease and
