CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT HC0014 Introduced , by Rep. Brad Halbrook SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED: ILCON Art. III, Sec. 9 new Proposes to amend the Suffrage and Elections Article of the Illinois Constitution. Provides that, following the consolidated election on April 1, 2027, all elections under this Constitution, except for special elections, shall be held in even-numbered years on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November. Provides that all persons elected to office in the 2027 consolidated election shall hold that office until a successor is elected and qualified in the 2032 general election. 3 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
4 HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE
5 SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that there shall be submitted to the
6 electors of the State for adoption or rejection at the general
7 election next occurring at least 6 months after the adoption
8 of this resolution a proposition to amend Article III of the
9 Illinois Constitution by adding Section 9 as follows
10 ARTICLE III
11 SUFFRAGE AND ELECTIONS

13 SECTION 9. DATE OF ELECTIONS
14 Following the consolidated election on April 1, 2027, all
15 elections under this Constitution, except for special
16 elections, shall be held in even-numbered years on the first
17 Tuesday after the first Monday of November. All persons
18 elected to office in the 2027 consolidated election shall hold
19 that office until a successor is elected and qualified in the
20 2032 general election.
