1  HOUSE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3  Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sergeant
4  Gerald S. "Jerry" Schneider of the Illinois Secretary of State
5  Police, who passed away on January 5, 2025; and
6  WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider was a dedicated public servant who
7  served and protected his community as a sergeant for the
8  Illinois Secretary of State Police Capitol Division since
9  2015; and
10  WHEREAS, During his tenure, Sgt. Schneider served as an
11  invaluable member of the Command Staff at the Capitol Police
12  Division and received a department unit citation and a
13  department commendation; and
14  WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider previously served as an officer
15  for the Sherman Police Department from January 2008 through
16  December 2014; and
17  WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider also served as an officer for the
18  Tri-State Police Department from December 1999 through January
19  2008; and
20  WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider was cherished by his family and

1  friends for his unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, and
2  his love for his family and community alike; and
3  WHEREAS, Sgt. Schneider was the husband of Sally Schneider
4  for 12 years; the father of Kaylie Schneider and Beau
5  Schneider; the brother of Jessica (Cory) Formea and Dixie
6  (Jake) Hill; and the son of Gerald and Rebecca Schneider;
7  therefore, be it
8  RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
9  HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10  we mourn the passing of Sergeant Gerald S. "Jerry" Schneider
11  of the Illinois Secretary of State Police and extend our
12  sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
13  and loved him; and be it further
