1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Officer Gerald S. Schneider of the
4  Sherman Police Department, who passed away on January 5, 2025;
5  and
6  WHEREAS, Officer Schneider, the son of Gerald and Rebecca
7  (Kelly) Schneider, was born in Springfield on December 16,
8  1977; he married Sally "Sarah" Seitz at Good Shepherd Lutheran
9  Church in Sherman on October 13, 2012; and
10  WHEREAS, Officer Schneider dedicated his career to serving
11  and protecting his community as a sergeant with the Illinois
12  Secretary of State Police Capitol Division and as a longtime
13  officer of the Sherman Police Department; his commitment to
14  public service earned him the respect and admiration of his
15  colleagues and community members alike; and
16  WHEREAS, Officer Schneider enjoyed horseback riding and
17  going to the beach, and he dearly loved spending time with his
18  family; and
19  WHEREAS, Officer Schneider was cherished for his
20  unwavering dedication, his sense of humor, and his love for
21  his family; and

1  WHEREAS, Officer Schneider was preceded in death by his
2  brother, Phil, and his paternal and maternal grandparents; and
3  WHEREAS, Officer Schneider is survived by his wife; his
4  daughter, Kaylie; his son, Beau; his sisters, Jessica (Cory)
5  Formea and Dixie (Jake) Hill; his parents; and several nieces
6  and nephews; therefore, be it
7  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9  Officer Gerald S. Schneider of the Sherman Police Department
10  and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and
11  all who knew and loved him; and be it further
