Speck of Pope County, who 4 passed away on December 27, 2024; and 5 WHEREAS, Betty Speck was born to Earl and Claris (Kerley) 6 Wright in Johnson County on October 1, 1933; she attended 7 Vienna High School; she received her Licensed Practical Nurse 8 (LPN) certification from Shawnee Community College; she 9 married Wayne Speck at Simpson Baptist Church on August 24, 10 1974; and 11 WHEREAS, Betty Speck worked in the surgical department at 12 the former Marion Memorial Hospital; she later worked at the 13 Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna and then in health 14 services at the Vienna Correctional Center, retiring after 16 15 years of service; and 16 WHEREAS, Betty Speck was a member of Glendale United 17 Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and served as 18 a Bible school volunteer; she was also a member of the Pope 19 County Extension Homemakers Council and served as president of 20 the Mary Circle for a number of years; and 21 WHEREAS, Betty Speck enjoyed crafting, making ceramics, SR0092 LRB104 11889 ECR 21980 r SR0092- 2 -LRB104 11889 ECR 21980 r SR0092 - 2 - LRB104 11889 ECR 21980 r SR0092 - 2 - LRB104 11889 ECR 21980 r 1 quilting, and traveling with her husband; and 2 WHEREAS, Betty Speck never met a stranger, and she was 3 always there to help her family, friends, and neighbors; and 4 WHEREAS, Betty Speck was preceded in death by her parents; 5 her brothers, Hal Wright, Bill Wright, Jean Wright, and Buster 6 Wright; her son-in-law, Jerry Mount; and her brother-in-law, 7 Carlos King; and 8 WHEREAS, Betty Speck is survived by her husband of 50 9 years, Wayne; her daughter, Carolyn Mount; two grandchildren; 10 two great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Mary King; her 11 nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and many friends and 12 neighbors; therefore, be it 13 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 15 Betty K.
