1  SENATE RESOLUTION
2  WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3  to learn of the death of Patricia Ann "Patty" Stremsterfer of
4  Pleasant Plains, who passed away on February 23, 2025; and
5  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was born in Springfield to
6  Harry and Ruth (Fetzer) Hartmann on January 23, 1932; she
7  graduated as valedictorian from Pleasant Plains High School in
8  1950; she married Harold Stremsterfer in Pleasant Plains on
9  December 2, 1951; and
10  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer worked for Franklin Life
11  Insurance until her marriage; her part-time and seasonal
12  employments included her parents's business, Hartmann's
13  Grocery Store, So-Fro Fabrics, and Richland Elevator, but her
14  full-time job was being a farmer's wife; and
15  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer's community involvement was
16  her passion; she volunteered for over 40 years at Memorial
17  Medical Center, first with the gift cart and later as the
18  cardiac waiting room receptionist; twice a month she gave
19  manicures at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia and enjoyed
20  the company of the residents; she shared her sewing knowledge
21  by teaching children at the local library; she also served as
22  an election judge; and

1  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was awarded the 2017
2  Distinguished Volunteer Award and the 2018 Good as Gold Award
3  for her work with Memorial Hospital's volunteer program and
4  was honored as the parade marshal for the Pleasant Plains High
5  School Homecoming in 2017; and
6  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was a member of the Peter
7  Cartwright United Methodist Church for 70 years until she
8  began attending Richland Creek Baptist Church in rural
9  Pleasant Plains; she was a member of the Pleasant Plains
10  Community Club for more than 40 years; and
11  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer treasured her abundance of
12  friends; she enjoyed sewing, handiwork, baking, bowling, golf,
13  and traveling; and
14  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer was preceded in death by her
15  husband, Harold; her parents; her youngest child, June, and
16  her husband, Pat McDonough; and her sister, Mary Kay Schmidt;
17  and
18  WHEREAS, Patty Stremsterfer is survived by her daughter,
19  Ann (Greg) Reiterman and their children, Ken Reiterman,
20  Jennifer (Kevin) Knoop, and Katrina, Shane, and Justin
21  Reiterman; her son, Norman (Michele) Stremsterfer and their

1  children, Lee (Stacy) Stremsterfer, Lindi (Scott) Kocher,
2  Travis (Mary) Stremsterfer, Bridget Stremsterfer, and Wade
3  (Elly) Stremsterfer; June's children, Brian (Stephanie) Hays,
4  Geoffrey Hays, and Tracy (Matt) Simpkins; Pat's daughter,
5  Mandi (Chris) Elder; 14 grandchildren; many
6  great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and
7  several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
8  RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9  ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10  Patricia Ann "Patty" Stremsterfer and extend our sincere
11  condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12  her; and be it further
13  RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14  presented to the family of Patty Stremsterfer as an expression
15  of our deepest sympathy.
