"Jack" Long of Springfield, 4 who passed away on March 9, 2025; and 5 WHEREAS, Jack Long was born in Jacksonville to Walter 6 Myron and Kathleen Vortman Long on September 29, 1939; he 7 served in the U.S. Army; he married Rosemarie Feleccia on 8 August 10, 1963; and 9 WHEREAS, Jack Long was a bricklayer and worked for 10 Pillsbury; he retired from the State of Illinois as a 11 stationary engineer; he also served as the assessor for 12 Springfield Township from 1993 to 2009; and 13 WHEREAS, Jack Long's passion was spending time playing 14 golf with his friends and family; he was also an avid sports 15 fan, and his favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and 16 the St. Louis Rams; he was also a University of Illinois fan 17 and enjoyed watching games with his family and friends; he was 18 a coach for the Dale Teubner Memorial Little League and 5th and 19 6th grade basketball at St. Cabrini; he also was a major 20 supporter of Williamsville girls softball and loved watching 21 his two youngest granddaughters pitch; and SR0188 LRB104 12848 MST 24204 r SR0188- 2 -LRB104 12848 MST 24204 r SR0188 - 2 - LRB104 12848 MST 24204 r SR0188 - 2 - LRB104 12848 MST 24204 r 1 WHEREAS, Jack Long was preceded in death by his wife, 2 Rosemarie; his parents; and his sister, Connie Esslinger; and 3 WHEREAS, Jack Long is survived by his sons, Brad (Laura) 4 and Brian (Lori) Long; his grandchildren, Valerie Scheina, 5 Anthony Long, Feleshia (Cole) Childress, Hayley Long (Jesse De 6 Castro), and Payton Long; his great-grandchildren, Cassidy 7 Scheina, Bella Scheina, Bryleigh Rose Scheina, Walter 8 Childress, and an additional great-grandchild due in June; his 9 brother, Larry Long; his sisters-in-law, Mary Choate and Betty 10 (Thomas) Blasko; his brother-in-law, Thomas (Toni) Feleccia; 11 and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it 12 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 13 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 14 John H. "Jack" Long and extend our sincere condolences to his 15 family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it 16 further 17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 18 presented to the family of Jack Long as an expression of our 19 deepest sympathy.
