Bradford in Chicago in 1929, is a 7 premier African American women's organization committed to 8 improving the social, political, and economic welfare of 9 African American women and their communities through 10 innovative programs in areas of educational advancement, 11 professional development, and service; and 12 WHEREAS, Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc., since its 13 inception, has been dedicated to promoting education, 14 leadership, and service, particularly within the African 15 American community, and the sorority's mission is to provide 16 opportunities for professional development, cultural 17 enrichment, and community service, while inspiring and 18 empowering women of all ages to live their lives with purpose, 19 passion, and integrity; and 20 WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda 21 Sorority, Inc. was chartered in Fairview Heights on June 15, 22 2024; and SR0194 LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r SR0194- 2 -LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r SR0194 - 2 - LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r SR0194 - 2 - LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r 1 WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter was founded under the 2 leadership of President Deletra Hudson and 23 distinguished 3 individuals, Lisa Acogny, Monique C. McKinney, Jacqueline 4 Ploudre, Angela Bailey, Rhonda Moore, Chelsea Robinson, Amanda 5 Brinson, Sylvia Morris, Deborah Sanlin, Tawny Brown, Utica 6 Morris, Mildred Stewart Simmons, Annette Cannaway-Hudson, 7 Frieda Morris-Williams, Erika Swaringen-Blankumsee, Sherri 8 Gaskin, Elizabeth Morrow, Ophelia Phillips, Leslie Tolliver, 9 Esq., Jamie Walker-Sallis, Jordan Hudson, Jacqueline Ploudre, 10 and Toi Williams; and 11 WHEREAS, The Eta Alpha Chapter remains committed to Iota 12 Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.'s mission; through leadership, 13 scholarship, and commitment to excellence, the chapter seeks 14 to empower women to take charge of their destiny and achieve 15 greatness; therefore, be it 16 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 17 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the Eta 18 Alpha Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. on being 19 chartered as a newly established chapter, and we commend its 20 founding members for their efforts; and be it further 21 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 22 presented to the Eta Alpha Chapter as an expression of our SR0194 - 2 - LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r SR0194- 3 -LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r SR0194 - 3 - LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r SR0194 - 3 - LRB104 12959 LAW 24543 r 1 esteem and respect.
