1 SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3 congratulate Claire Ann Gulley on the occasion of her election
4 as Youth Governor of the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government
5 program; and
6 WHEREAS, Claire Gulley, a junior at Sesser-Valier High
7 School, was elected to reside over the 76th General Assembly
8 of the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program on March 21,
9 2025, becoming the fifth female youth governor in the
10 program's history; and
11 WHEREAS, Claire Gulley has been a dedicated participant in
12 the Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program for the past
13 two years, during which she has worked to promote thoughtful
14 debate, legislative innovation, and collaboration among her
15 peers; and
16 WHEREAS, In addition to her contributions to the Illinois
17 YMCA Youth and Government program, Claire Gulley has
18 demonstrated unwavering commitment as an active member of her
19 school's student council, National Honor Society, Outdoorsmen
20 Club, FFA, Scholar Bowl, band, chorus, cheer team, and golf
21 team, further showcasing her leadership capabilities; and

1 WHEREAS, Claire Gulley has also demonstrated academic
2 excellence and a passion for policymaking, law, and
3 governance, using her knowledge and skills to advocate for
4 meaningful change within her school and community; and
5 WHEREAS, Claire Gulley will serve as Youth Governor of the
6 Illinois YMCA Youth and Government program until the 77th
7 General Assembly in March 2026; therefore, be it
8 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Claire
10 Ann Gulley on her election as Youth Governor of the Illinois
11 YMCA Youth and Government program; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Claire Gulley as a symbol of our respect and
14 esteem.
