HOUSE BILL No. 1024 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning public safety. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 10-10.5-2-1, AS ADDED BY P.L.113-2020, 2 SECTION 1, IS AMENDED TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE 3 JULY 1, 2022]: Sec. 1. The state of Indiana designates the following 4 individuals to be Indiana first responders: 5 (1) A law enforcement officer. 6 (2) A firefighter, including a volunteer firefighter. 7 (3) A corrections officer. 8 (4) A public safety telecommunicator. 9 (5) An emergency medical technician, emergency medical 10 responder, or paramedic. 11 (6) An individual performing emergency management services 12 subject to the order or control of, or under a request of, the state 13 or local government, including a volunteer health practitioner 14 registered under IC 10-14-3.5. 15 (7) Any individual serving in an employee or volunteer capacity 16 for a public safety agency, whose duties include rapid emergency 17 response. 2022 IN 1024—LS 6536/DI 137 2 1 (8) A coroner, deputy coroner, or medicolegal death 2 investigator. 2022 IN 1024—LS 6536/DI 137
