Synopsis:  Requirements for SNAP participants. Provides that the
division of family resources (division) of the family and social services
administration shall require noncustodial parents to cooperate with the
child support bureau as a condition of eligibility for assistance under
the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Requires the
division to disqualify an individual from receiving assistance under
SNAP during any 45-day period in which the individual is delinquent
in any payment due under a child support order. Requires the division
to assign individuals who are subject to federal work requirements for
SNAP eligibility to an employment and training program.

HOUSE BILL No. 1354
A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
human services.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 12-14-30-7.5 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA
2 CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS
3 [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2022]: Sec. 7.5. (a) Subject to 7 CFR
4 273.11(o) and 7 CFR 273.11(p), the division shall require
5 noncustodial parents to cooperate with the child support bureau as
6 a condition of SNAP eligibility.
7 (b) Subject to 7 CFR 273.11(q), the division shall disqualify
8 from participation in SNAP an individual during any forty-five
9 (45) day period in which the individual is delinquent in any
10 payment due under a court order for the support of a child of the
11 individual.
12 SECTION 2. IC 12-14-30-8 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE
13 AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY
14 1, 2022]: Sec. 8. The division shall assign individuals who are
15 subject to the work requirements established under 7 U.S.C.
16 2015(d)(1) to an employment and training program (as defined in
17 7 U.S.C. 2015(d)(4)(B)).

consideration and begs leave to report the same back to the House with
the recommendation that said bill be amended as follows:

Page 1, line 5, delete "parents and".
Page 1, line 8, delete "month" and insert "forty-five (45) day
period".
