Summary of Legislation: This bill has the following provisions:
(1) Requires the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) to include in any driver's manual published by the
Bureau: (a) a description of law enforcement procedures during a traffic stop; and (b) actions a motorist
should take during a traffic stop, including appropriate interactions with law enforcement officers. 
(2) Requires the Driver Education Advisory Board to consult with and advise the Commissioner of the BMV
and the Indiana State Police Department (ISP) regarding instruction on: (a) law enforcement procedures
during traffic stops; and (b) actions a motorist should take during a traffic stop, including appropriate
interactions with law enforcement officers.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2022.
Explanation of State Expenditures:  Currently, the BMV’s driver manual offers information on how to
respond and react during a routine traffic stop conducted by law enforcement.
