Effective Date: July 1, 2022. Explanation of State Expenditures: This bill will require the BMV to work with their credential vendor to design an identifying symbol to indicate use of a service animal. An additional endorsement on BMV credentials is expected to have no impact on agency expenditures. The vendor that is currently under contract to provide credentials does not charge the BMV for new identifying symbols. However, the BMV reports that due to the total number of endorsements and identifying symbols available for credentials issued by the Bureau, space has become limited for new additions. The BMV also reports that as the agency continues developing mobile credentials, the ability to display additional identifying symbols will be expanded.
