DIGEST OF RESOLUTION
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana Department
of Transportation to rename a section of Interstate 69 at Exit 120 in
Monroe County "The Reserve Deputy Sheriff James Driver Memorial
Bridge".

SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION No. 13
1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION urging the Indiana
2 Department of Transportation to rename a section of Interstate
3 69 at Exit 120 in Monroe County "The Reserve Deputy Sheriff
4 James Driver Memorial Bridge".
5 Whereas, The Indiana Department of Transportation has
6 jurisdiction over highways in the state system, including those
7 located in municipalities; 
8 Whereas, Reserve Deputy Sheriff James Driver sacrificed
9 his life while responding to a vehicle accident on March 29,
10 2021; 
11 Whereas, Reserve Deputy Sheriff James Driver was devoted
12 to the people of Monroe County, spending many of his days off
13 from his regular occupation to serve as Reserve Deputy; 
14 Whereas, Reserve Deputy Sheriff James Driver was
15 working toward becoming a Deputy after obtaining American
16 citizenship; 
17 Whereas, Reserve Deputy Sheriff James Driver was highly
18 regarded and beloved by the Monroe County Sheriff's Office
19 and community; 
20 Whereas, Reserve Deputy Sheriff James Driver is survived
21 by his wife and three children; and
22 Whereas, It is appropriate that the portion of Interstate 69
23 at Exit 120 in Monroe County commemorate Reserve Deputy

1 Sheriff James Driver and his contributions to Monroe County
2 and the State of Indiana: Therefore,
3 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
4 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
5 concurring:
6 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly urges the
7 Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the section of
8 Interstate 69 at Exit 120 in Monroe County "The Reserve
9 Deputy Sheriff James Driver Memorial Bridge".
10 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
11 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Commissioner of the
12 Indiana Department of Transportation.

COMMITTEE REPORT
Madam President: The Senate Committee on Homeland Security
and Transportation, to which was referred Senate Concurrent
Resolution No. 13, has had the same under consideration and begs
leave to report the same back to the Senate with the recommendation
that said resolution DO PASS.
