SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION recognizing Indiana school
2 counselors during the week of February 7, 2022, National
3 School Counseling Week.
4 Whereas, February 7 to February 11 is recognized as
5 National School Counseling Week;
6 Whereas, There are 2,000 school counselors in Indiana and
7 100,000 school counselors nationwide;
8 Whereas, School counselors are employed in public and
9 private schools to help students reach their full potential;
10 Whereas, School counselors are actively committed to
11 helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests, and
12 talents as these traits relate to career awareness and
13 development;
14 Whereas, School counselors help parents focus on ways to
15 further the educational, personal, and social growth of their
16 children;
17 Whereas, School counselors seek to identify and utilize
18 community resources that can enhance and complement

1 comprehensive school counseling programs and help students
2 become productive members of society;
3 Whereas, Comprehensive developmental school counseling
4 programs are considered an integral part of the educational
5 process that enables all students to achieve success in school;
6 and
7 Whereas, For their efforts and contributions to the state of
8 Indiana, school counselors across the state should be honored
9 and commended: Therefore,
10 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
11 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
12 SECTION 1. That the Indiana State Senate recognizes
13 Indiana school counselors during the week of February 7, 2022,
14 National School Counseling Week.
15 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
16 directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Indiana
17 School Counselor Association.
