Summary of Legislation: This bill provides that a pregnant woman charged with a drug crime may be
referred to the forensic diversion program or a drug court at an initial hearing.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2024.
Explanation of State Expenditures:

Explanation of Local Expenditures: Any increases in caseload for these courts and forensic diversion
programs will be at the discretion of the judge overseeing the court with criminal jurisdiction. 
There are drug courts in 47 counties in Indiana. There are four counties with forensic diversions programs
offered through their community corrections agencies.
