HOUSE BILL No. 1168 A BILL FOR AN ACT concerning the general assembly. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. [EFFECTIVE UPON PASSAGE] (a) As used in this 2 SECTION, "racial equity impact note" refers to a statement 3 presenting a structured analysis of how a budgetary or policy 4 decision of the general assembly is likely to impact Hoosiers along 5 racial lines. 6 (b) The legislative council is urged to assign to the code revision 7 commission established by IC 2-5-1.1-10, or to another appropriate 8 study committee, during the 2024 legislative interim the topic of 9 directing the legislative services agency to prepare and publish on 10 the legislative website a racial equity impact note for some or all 11 legislative bills introduced in a session of the general assembly, if 12 requested by an author or sponsor of the bill, the chair of a 13 standing committee to which the bill is assigned, or the ranking 14 minority member of a standing committee to which the bill is 15 assigned. 16 (c) This SECTION expires December 31, 2024. 17 SECTION 2.
