Summary of Legislation: This bill requests the Legislative Council to assign a study of directing the
Legislative Services Agency to prepare a racial equity impact note for a legislative bill introduced in a
session of the General Assembly, if requested by an author or sponsor of the bill, the chair of a standing
committee to which the bill is assigned, or the ranking minority member of a standing committee to which
the bill is assigned.
Effective Date: Upon passage.
Explanation of State Expenditures: If the committee were to hold additional meetings to address this topic,
there would be additional expenditures for legislator per diem and travel reimbursement for the committee
members. Any additional expenditures must be within the committee’s budget, which is established by the
Legislative Council.
