Rogers FUNDS AFFECTED:XGENERAL IMPACT: State DEDICATED FEDERAL Summary of Legislation: The bill permits the Commissioner of Labor or the Commissioner's representative to serve safety orders or penalty assessments by electronic mail. The bill also expands where the Commissioner of Labor or the Commissioner's representative may serve physical copies of safety orders or penalty assessments. Effective Date: July 1, 2024. Explanation of State Expenditures: If safety orders or penalty assessments are sent through electronic mail, the Department of Labor may experience a decrease in expenditures for postage or physical delivery. If the Department of Labor does not receive a read receipt or other electronic confirmation that an employer has received the electronic mail within five days, the Department of Labor would be required to mail a physical copy of the safety order or penalty assessments by registered or certified mail.
