Summary of Legislation: This bill replaces the term "chairman" with the term "chairperson" in certain
statutes. It replaces chairmen, committeeman, committeemen, and certain gender specific job titles in certain
statutes with gender neutral terminology. It changes the alcoholic beverage permit for salesmen to a permit
for salespersons. It removes obsolete internal section headings within certain sections of the alcoholic
beverage and tobacco law. It removes masculine pronouns in certain statutes. It also makes technical
corrections.
Effective Date: July 1, 2024.
Explanation of State Expenditures: The Election Division may need to update publications where the terms
“chairman”, “chairmen”, “committeeman”, or “committeemen” are used. These changes would likely be able
to be done within existing staff and resource levels.
