Summary of Legislation: This bill provides that the Attorney General may file an amicus curiae brief only
if the Governor gives written approval to file the amicus curiae brief. It also makes a conforming change.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2024.
Explanation of State Expenditures: To the extent the Governor does not provide written approval to the
Attorney General, the bill could reduce state expenditures for litigation expenses. 
[The Solicitor General litigates cases involving constitutional challenges, civil appellate cases, issues of vital
interest to the state, and provides recommendations to the Attorney General on the state’s interest in filing
amicus curiae briefs.]
