Pfaff BILL STATUS: As Introduced FIRST SPONSOR: FUNDS AFFECTED:XGENERAL IMPACT: State & Local DEDICATED FEDERAL Summary of Legislation: This bill requires each county to establish and maintain a Project Lifesaver program. It tasks the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services with ensuring compliance, and requires the division to report to the General Assembly. Effective Date: July 1, 2024. Explanation of State Expenditures: The bill will increase the workload for the Division of Disability and Rehabilitative Services to ensure compliance, report to the General Assembly by March 1, 2025, and to adopt rules. These requirements should be able to be implemented with no additional appropriations, assuming near customary agency staffing and resource levels. Explanation of State Revenues: Explanation of Local Expenditures: The bill would increase expenditures and workload for counties that have not implemented Project Lifesaver. However, the increase is expected to be small. Additional Information - Project Lifesaver requires an initial fee of between $4,100 and $4,920 per agency. Other costs include instructor travel and agency employee training expenses, as well as equipment that is required to be purchased from Project Lifesaver.
