Summary of Legislation: This bill provides that the Department of Correction (DOC) shall assign an
offender, including a delinquent offender, to a facility or program that is based on the offender's biological
sex at birth in accordance with the offender's genetics and reproductive biology.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2024.
Explanation of State Expenditures: DOC reports that offenders are assigned to facilities based on their
biological sex at birth, so there would be no additional cost to DOC because of these new requirements.
