It modifies the deadlines for: (1) filing a copy of an ordinance establishing a primary election for nomination of major political party candidates; and (2) holding a town convention. Effective Date: January 1, 2025. Explanation of State Expenditures: Explanation of State Revenues: Explanation of Local Expenditures: Candidates for town offices that end up being nominated by primary, under the bill’s provisions, would need to be added to the primary ballot. County clerks’ workload would increase in even years to determine where to add the additional town candidates to the ballot within the applicable voting jurisdictions. It is likely the additional town offices would be added to regular orders for primary election optical-scan ballots and DRE voting system ballot programing.
