SENATE BILL No. 48 A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning higher education. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana: 1 SECTION 1. IC 21-49-3 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA CODE AS 2 A NEW CHAPTER TO READ AS FOLLOWS [EFFECTIVE JULY 3 1, 2024]: 4 Chapter 3. Disclosures by State Educational Institutions of 5 Employment and Graduation Statistics 6 Sec. 1. (a) A state educational institution shall publish on the 7 home page of the state educational institution's website a hyperlink 8 to a searchable data base that contains the following information 9 for all bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees offered by the 10 state educational institution: 11 (1) The job placement rate for a graduate of the state 12 educational institution in the graduate's field of study, one (1) 13 year postgraduation, disaggregated by degree. 14 (2) The average salary range for a graduate of the state 15 educational institution in the graduate's field of study, one (1) 16 year postgraduation, disaggregated by degree. 17 (3) The percentage of graduates from the state educational 2024 IN 48—LS 6251/DI 143 2 1 institution who enroll in postgraduate education, 2 disaggregated by degree. 3 (4) Employment or internship partnerships the state 4 educational institution has available for students and 5 graduates in the student's or graduate's field of study, 6 disaggregated by degree. 7 (5) Career path recommendations for a graduate of the state 8 educational institution that are within the graduate's field of 9 study, disaggregated by degree. 10 (b) A state educational institution shall provide the information 11 in subsection (a) to new students during the students' admission 12 and orientation process at the state educational institution. 13 Sec. 2. (a) As used in this section, "acceptance rate" means the 14 percentage of applicants who are admitted to the state educational 15 institution. 16 (b) As used in this section, "graduation rate" means the 17 percentage of students in a given cohort who have completed their 18 degree at the state educational institution within a specified time 19 frame. 20 (c) A state educational institution shall publish on the home 21 page of the state educational institution's website a hyperlink to a 22 searchable data base that contains the following information: 23 (1) The state educational institution's acceptance rate. 24 (2) The state educational institution's graduation rate in each 25 field of study, disaggregated by degree. 26 (3) The average student loan debt, as determined from the 27 estimates under IC 21-12-15-3(a)(1), for a student who 28 completes the student's bachelor's degree at the state 29 educational institution. 2024 IN 48—LS 6251/DI 143
