SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION to recognize Second
2 Presbyterian Church for their advocacy and work on housing
3 related programs.
4 Whereas, Second Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis
5 works with and supports multiple organizations within the city
6 to advocate for the housing needs of underserved populations;
7 Whereas, Second Presbyterian Church has worked with
8 the Greater Indianapolis Habitat for Humanity for more than
9 35 years to sponsor an annual interfaith build and participate
10 in other Habitat activities throughout the year;
11 Whereas, Second Presbyterian Church sponsors and works
12 with NeighborLink Indianapolis, which has served more than
13 3,000 people and made more than 4,000 critical repairs for
14 homeowners age 62 and older or with disabilities living in
15 Marion County, with repairs being made at no cost to the
16 homeowner so they may age in a place of safety;
17 Whereas, Second Presbyterian Church sponsors and works
18 with Servants At Work, Inc. (SAWs) ramp building, a non-profit
19 organization that specializes in wheel chair ramps for low-

1 income, permanently disabled individuals;
2 Whereas, Second Presbyterian Church sponsors and works
3 with the Family Promise organization to eliminate
4 homelessness in the Indianapolis area and Second Presbyterian
5 Church was the title sponsor in 2022, donating $123,606 to
6 help multiple families obtain housing and access to AfterCare
7 programs for two years; and
8 Whereas, Second Presbyterian Church works to address
9 housing needs by repairing and building homes for our most
10 vulnerable citizens in the local area, but their impact reaches
11 across the country: Therefore,
12 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
13 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
14 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate recognizes Second
15 Presbyterian Church for their advocacy and work on housing
16 related programs.
17 SECTION 2. That the Secretary of the Senate is hereby
18 directed to transmit three copies of this Resolution to the
19 Second Presbyterian Church.
