SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MADAM PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION expressing gratitude to
2 Verizon Communications for its role in promoting and
3 supporting the Indiana General Assembly's legislative
4 internship program and scholarships.
5 Whereas, Since 1995, Verizon Communications has
6 generously awarded scholarships to interns in each caucus of
7 the Indiana Senate and House of Representatives;
8 Whereas, The Verizon Communications Intern Scholarships
9 reward outstanding performance, dedicated work ethic, and
10 professional, effective interpersonal skills;
11 Whereas, Scholarship recipients are selected based on a
12 number of criteria, including nominations by legislators and
13 staff, peer votes, student self-assessments, and personal essays;
14 and
15 Whereas, Verizon Communications has an extensive history
16 of supporting educational and professional initiatives, and its
17 continued support of the legislative internship program and
18 scholarship is tremendously appreciated: Therefore,

1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the
2 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

4 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate expresses its sincere
5 gratitude to Verizon Communications for its role in promoting
6 and supporting the Indiana General Assembly's internship
7 program and scholarships.
8 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
9 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Ana Maria Sanchez,
10 Director of State Government Affairs for Verizon
11 Communications.
