Summary of Legislation: This bill establishes the Hoosier Scam Prevention Board.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2025.
Explanation of State Expenditures: The bill establishes  the Hoosier Scam Prevention Board to be staffed
by the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). The commission is comprised of 15 members,
including the Attorney General or a designee, other state agencies, and two representatives from consumer
advocacy groups or charitable organizations. Total expenses for the commission will depend on the number
of meetings held, with per diem salary, mileage, and traveling expenses, paid from budgeted appropriations
to the FSSA. Materials created by the board or findings of the board are to be posted to the Attorney
General’s website. 
The bill's requirements represent additional workload and expenses. Existing staffing and resource levels,
if currently being used to capacity, may be insufficient for full implementation. Ultimately, the source of
funds and resources required to satisfy the requirements of this bill will depend on legislative and
administrative actions.
Additional Information - The following state agencies will have a representative on the board: Department
of Insurance, State Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, State Police, Adult Protective Services Unit, Indiana
Minority Health Coalition, Department of Financial Institutions, Long-term Care Ombudsman, Consumer
Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General, and Division of Aging.  
Members of the commission who are not state employees receive salary per diem of $100 per day and the
mileage reimbursement is $0.49 per mile, effective June 15, 2022.
