Baird BILL STATUS: As Introduced FIRST SPONSOR: FUNDS AFFECTED:XGENERAL IMPACT: State DEDICATED FEDERAL Summary of Legislation: This bill establishes the Indiana Nonprofit Security Grant Fund for the purpose of funding physical security improvements, security personnel improvements, and other protective measures for nonprofit organizations in Indiana that are at high risk due to the nature of their ideology, beliefs, or mission. It also makes an appropriation. Effective Date: July 1, 2025. Explanation of State Expenditures: Appropriation: This bill appropriates $2.5 M per year for FY 2026 and FY 2027 from the General Fund. Nonprofit Security Grant Fund: This bill establishes the fund, which will be administered by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The bill requires DHS to adopt application procedures and forms and implement guidelines for awarding grants.
