Pfaff BILL STATUS: As Introduced FIRST SPONSOR: FUNDS AFFECTED:XGENERAL IMPACT: State DEDICATED FEDERAL Summary of Legislation: The bill establishes the Outdoor Recreation Development Program within the Indiana Destination Development Corporation (IDDC) to coordinate tourism development activities with outdoor recreation business opportunities. Effective Date: July 1, 2025. Explanation of State Expenditures: The bill requires the IDDC to administer the new Outdoor Recreation Development Program, with goals related to the outdoor recreation industry, tourism development, economic and rural economic development, identification of funding sources, and workforce development strategies, with an annual report on the impact of the program. The IDDC should be able to accomplish the additional workload using existing staffing and resources. Explanation of State Revenues: The IDDC has authority to receive and expend funds, grants, and contributions from public and private sources. It administers several funds which receive state General Fund appropriations. Funding received from public and private sources may increase to the extent that the new program's goals and activities more closely align with the goals of their current and potential funding sources.
