1 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION congratulating the
2 South Knox High School girls basketball team on winning the
3 2025 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 2A state
4 championship title.
5 Whereas, On March 1, 2025, the South Knox Lady Spartans
6 basketball team of Vincennes, Indiana, finished its season by
7 winning the program's first-ever Indiana High School Athletic
8 Association (IHSAA) state championship at Gainbridge
9 Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana;
10 Whereas, Before capturing its first state championship, the
11 team also won the semi-state and regional titles, marking the
12 first time any basketball program at South Knox has achieved
13 these milestones;
14 Whereas, The Lady Spartans basketball team is the first
15 varsity sport at South Knox to win a state title;
16 Whereas, Through hard work and determination, the South
17 Knox Lady Spartans won the state championship game with a
18 final score of 55-33 over the Rensselaer Central Bombers;
19 Whereas, The dominant Lady Spartans maintained the highest
20 scoring average in the state, with over 72 points per game,
21 while holding their opponents to an average of fewer than 41
22 points per game;
23 Whereas, In the postseason, South Knox won six games by an
24 average margin of 22.2 points, with only one opponent coming
25 within single digits;

1 Whereas, The Lady Spartans finished their 2025 season with
2 a final record of 28-2;
3 Whereas, The Lady Spartans benefited from the leadership of
4 coaches Hollie Anson-Eaves, Doug Anson, Collin Mattingly,
5 and Jalayna Cary, as well as the assistance of managers Jade
6 Powell, Lucy Thacker, and Addy Wilkinson, throughout their
7 quest to win South Knox High School's first state title in
8 program history; and
9 Whereas, South Knox High School student athletes Delaynee
10 Coomes, Ella Bobe, Kendal Hill, Zoe Gilmore, Madison
11 Parrish, Bren Hill, Ellie Burke, Layla Thomas, Grace
12 Detweiler, Kalissa Lavely, Brynley Millspaugh, Sarah French,
13 and Angel Hatcher secured their place in Indiana history:
14 Therefore,
15 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives
16 of the General Assembly of the State of Indiana,
17 the Senate concurring:
18 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly honors the
19 South Knox High School Lady Spartans on winning the 2025
20 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 2A state
21 championship title.
22 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
23 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
24 Representative Matthew Hostettler for distribution.
