1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION recognizing Indiana 4-H's work
2 to advance positive youth development in the state.
3 Whereas, Indiana 4-H was established in 1904 in Hamilton
4 County by John F. Haines, a school superintendent, to develop
5 young boys and girls in the state; 
6 Whereas, 4-H members consistently demonstrate the ability
7 and leadership necessary to be champions and serve as
8 outstanding representatives and officers of the young people of
9 Indiana; 
10 Whereas, The Purdue University Extension 4-H youth
11 development program offers educational programming in
12 science, technology, engineering and mathematics, healthy
13 living, and civic engagement to over 163,000 youth each year
14 in partnership with all 92 Indiana counties and thousands of

1 4-H volunteers; 
2 Whereas, Community clubs, after-school programs,
3 in-school programs, camps, and workshops give 4-H members
4 across Indiana an opportunity to be among the youngest
5 students at Purdue University; 
6 Whereas, Indiana 4-H successfully prepares youth for
7 employment, enlistment, and education, with 72 percent of
8 Indiana 4-H high school graduates having attended
9 post-secondary institutions over the past six years, and 86
10 percent of those were enrolled at institutions within the state of
11 Indiana; 
12 Whereas, Justice Ulmet of Monroe County, Lauren Lacey of
13 Wayne County, Lennon Woods of Montgomery County, Macy
14 Young of Ripley County, Maddie Bedel of Vanderburgh County,
15 Claire Donaldson of Lake County, Carolanne Lorenzoni of
16 Marion County, Marley King of Elkhart County, and Emily
17 Greene of Warren County serve with distinction and dedication
18 as the 2024-2025 class of Indiana 4-H ambassadors,
19 representing the interests, beliefs, and desires of all 4-H
20 members of the state; 
21 Whereas, Sarah Kuhn of Allen County, Brooklyn Albertson
22 of Boone County, Abigail Montemer of Hamilton County, Noah
23 Miller of Lake County, Justice Ulmet of Monroe County, and
24 Evelyn Stallings of Warrick County were selected to represent
25 Indiana at the 103rd National 4-H Congress; and
26 Whereas, It is fitting and proper that the outstanding
27 accomplishments of these extraordinary individuals be
28 recognized: Therefore,
29 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
30 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
31 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives
32 recognizes February 11, 2025, as 4-H Day at the Statehouse and
33 commends both the Purdue University Extension 4-H youth
34 development program and each of the national and state
35 recognized honorees for their numerous accomplishments and

1 the leadership they have demonstrated.
2 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
3 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution for
4 distribution to the Purdue Extension 4-H youth development
5 program.
