1 A HOUSE RESOLUTION congratulating the
2 Jeffersonville High School boys basketball team on winning the
3 2025 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A state
4 championship title.
5 Whereas, On March 29, 2025, the Jeffersonville boys
6 basketball team finished its season at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in
7 Indianapolis, Indiana, by winning its first Indiana High School
8 Athletic Association (IHSAA) state championship since 1993; 
9 Whereas, With 37 seconds remaining in overtime, Elijah
10 Cheeks scored the game-winning layup; 
11 Whereas, Through hard work and determination, the
12 Jeffersonville Red Devils won the state championship game
13 with a final score of 67-66, beating the heavily favored and
14 defending state champions, the Fishers Tigers;

1 Whereas, Excelling in the classroom, leading on the court,
2 and encouraging his team in the locker room, senior guard
3 Shawn Boyd was named the winner of the coveted Arthur L.
4 Trester IHSAA Mental Attitude Award; 
5 Whereas, The Red Devils finished their 2025 season with a
6 final record of 24-5, adding to their history of excellence; 
7 Whereas, Jeffersonville High School student athletes Tre
8 Singleton, Tay Harper, Terrence Nord, Gilly Polk, Raijon
9 Laird, Michael "Mikey" Cooper, Caleb Jones, Elijah Cheeks,
10 P.J. Douglas, Za'Rhon Calhoun, Aiden Toler, Jacob Wilkerson,
11 Shawn Boyd, Mason Longest, and Zion Mitchell secured their
12 place in Indiana history; 
13 Whereas, Student team managers Jacob Mitchell and Jack
14 Rutherford selflessly supported the needs of the team and the
15 coaching staff; 
16 Whereas, Many of the leaders of Jeffersonville High School
17 are alumni, including Coach Sherron Wilkerson, who 32 years
18 ago, as a McDonald's All-American, led his team to
19 Jeffersonville's first championship; 
20 Whereas, The Red Devils benefited from the leadership of
21 Coaches Wilkerson ('93), Josh Lowery ('06), Clark Miles ('76),
22 Chris Carter ('04), Michael Fitzgerald, and Kyle Mahnesmith
23 throughout their quest to win Jeffersonville High School's
24 second state title in program history; and
25 Whereas, Principal Pam Hall ('89), Athletics Director Larry
26 Owens ('86), Assistant Athletics Director Jeff Wigginton,
27 School Resource Officer TJ Robinson, Safety & Security
28 Director Brian Mitchell ('85), and Big Red Bus Driver Jeremy
29 Neff provided exceptional leadership and service to the team
30 and coaching staff along their journey: Therefore,
31 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the
32 General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
33 SECTION 1. That the Indiana House of Representatives

1 honors the Jeffersonville High School Red Devils on winning
2 the 2025 Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A
3 state championship title.
4 SECTION 2. That the Principal Clerk of the House of
5 Representatives shall transmit copies of this resolution to State
6 Representative Wendy Dant Chesser for distribution.
