Summary of Legislation: (Amended) This bill requires the Indiana Department of Environmental
Management (IDEM) to:
(1) perform a comprehensive evaluation of ambient air quality within nonattainment areas in Indiana;
and
(2) identify air pollution reduction or regulatory relief strategies that could accomplish certain goals
with respect to the federal Clean Air Act.
Effective Date: July 1, 2025.
Explanation of State Expenditures: The bill’s requirements will increase workload for IDEM but should
be able to be implemented using existing staffing and resources.
