Summary of Legislation: The bill provides that school corporations and charter schools shall require all
applicants for employment and school employees who will have direct, ongoing contact with children within
the scope of the applicant's or school employee's employment to attend training concerning recognition of
the signs and symptoms of seizures and the appropriate steps to be taken to respond to these symptoms.
Effective Date:  July 1, 2025.

Explanation of Local Expenditures:  Beginning in FY 2026, certain school employees are required to have
annual seizure training consistent with the training programs and guidelines developed by the Epilepsy
Foundation of America or a successor organization. This will have a minimal impact to workload annually.
The training developed by the Epilepsy Foundation is available at no cost. However, if schools were to
acquire training from another entity, they would have to fund the cost from their existing budget.
