Synopsis: Coverage for Parkinson's and Alzheimer's patients.
Prohibits a health plan from requiring a participating provider to obtain
prior authorization for a health care service that is used to diagnose or
treat Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or a related cognitive disorder or
Parkinson's disease.
Effective: July 1, 2025.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning
insurance.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:
1 SECTION 1. IC 27-1-37.5-18 IS ADDED TO THE INDIANA
2 CODE AS A NEW SECTION TO READ AS FOLLOWS
3 [EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025]: Sec. 18. A health plan may not require
4 a participating provider to obtain prior authorization for a health
5 care service that is used to diagnose or treat:
6 (1) Alzheimer's disease, dementia, or a related cognitive
7 disorder; or
8 (2) Parkinson's disease.
