NIEZGODSKI, DORIOT, YODER , read first time and referred to Committee on 2025 DC 1901/DI tg Introduced First Regular Session 124th General Assembly (2025) SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION No. _____ 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION to honor Bella Bauer, 2 founder of the Purple Project, for her advocacy and 3 empowering of kids and teens with epilepsy. 4 Whereas, On December 16, 2016, during a math test in 5th 5 grade, Bella experienced her first grand mal seizure and was 6 later diagnosed with epilepsy, a disorder of the central nervous 7 system with abnormal brain wave activity; 8 Whereas, Bella was determined not to let the diagnosis 9 change her and constantly found herself pushing the limits, 10 never giving up on her dreams and continuing to do the things 11 she loved; 12 Whereas, Bella started the Purple Project website to share 13 her story and to give courage to others with epilepsy to 14 continually chase their dreams and to never give up; 15 Whereas, Bella is a public speaker, using her voice and 16 experiences to visit classrooms to educate both students and 17 teachers alike. She is an author and epilepsy advocate working 18 with many different state legislators to bring awareness to 19 protect children and teens with epilepsy and to require school 20 employees to attend training; 21 Whereas, Bella was crowned Miss Indiana's Teen 2024, 22 and has won several awards to include the prestigious Joy of 23 Life Award for her work with the Purple Project; and 2025 DC 1901/DI tg 2 1 Whereas, Bella is the oldest of seven children, graduating 2 from Penn High School, attending Purdue University, and 3 being a part of the Purdue Dance Team: Therefore, 4 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly 5 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives 6 concurring: 7 SECTION 1. That the Indiana General Assembly 8 recognizes Bella Bauer and her epilepsy advocacy efforts. 9 SECTION 2.
