RESOLUTION No. _____
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION honoring Dr. Thomas
2 Morrison for his 34 years of service to the State of Indiana.
3 Whereas, Thomas Morrison received a bachelor of arts
4 degree from the University of Denver, a master of arts degree
5 from the University of Maryland, and a doctorate of education
6 from Ball State University;
7 Whereas, Thomas Morrison dedicated 17 years to Ball
8 State University as the Associate Vice President for Business
9 Affairs, where he was responsible for facility management,
10 strategic planning, budget development, government relations,
11 auxiliary services, and human resources;
12 Whereas, In 2009, Thomas Morrison was named Indiana
13 University's (IU) first Vice President for Capital Planning and
14 Facilities, where he was responsible for the physical
15 infrastructure and development of IU's campuses;

17 Whereas, Morrison has also served as IU's chief liaison
18 and representative to the Indiana General Assembly and other
19 state agencies as the Associate Vice President for Public Affairs
20 and State Relations;
21 Whereas, Under Morrison's leadership, IU has instituted a
22 $1 billion repair and rehabilitation plan to eliminate its
23 deferred maintenance backlog;
24 Whereas, Notable initiatives under Morrison's leadership

1 include the Cyberinfrastructure Building at IU Bloomington,
2 the Neurosciences Building at IU Indianapolis, Tamarack Hall
3 at IU Northwest, the Education and Arts Building at IU South
4 Bend, the Education and Technology Building at IU Southeast,
5 and laboratory renovations at both IU Bloomington and IU
6 Indianapolis; and
7 Whereas, Thomas Morrison has dedicated 34 years of
8 service to the State of Indiana at two of our state educational
9 institutions: Therefore,

11 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly
12 of the State of Indiana, the House of Representatives
13 concurring:
14 SECTION 1. The Indiana General Assembly recognizes and
15 congratulates Thomas Morrison as he transitions into his new
16 role as the Vice President of Facilities at Duke University.
17 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
18 to transmit copies of this Resolution to Thomas Morrison.
