SENATE RESOLUTION ____
MR. PRESIDENT:
I offer the following resolution and move its adoption:
1 A SENATE RESOLUTION honoring Lieutenant Governor
2 Suzanne Crouch upon her retirement.
3 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch has
4 faithfully and honorably served as President of the Indiana
5 Senate for eight years;
6 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Crouch graduated from
7 Mater Dei High School in Evansville and received her
8 bachelor's degree from Purdue University, majoring in
9 Political Science;
10 Whereas, Before serving as Lieutenant Governor, she
11 served as Vanderburgh County Auditor from 1994 to 2002,
12 Vanderburgh County Commissioner from 2002 to 2005, State
13 Representative of District 78 from 2005 to 2013, and Auditor
14 of State from 2013 to 2016 during her memorable career;
15 Whereas, During her time as Lieutenant Governor, she
16 passionately chaired the Intellectual and Developmental
17 Disabilities Task Force, advocated for Hoosiers with

1 disabilities and reviewed the landscape of services provided in
2 this space, and evaluated the effectiveness of state services;
3 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Crouch launched the
4 Indiana Mental Health Roundtable to serve as a catalyst for
5 change in improving the mental health status of all Hoosiers
6 and to develop action steps to combat the mental illness crisis
7 in Indiana;
8 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Crouch led the Indiana
9 State Department of Agriculture, Office of Community and
10 Rural Affairs, Indiana Destination Development Corporation,
11 as well as the Indiana Housing and Community Development
12 Authority;
13 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Crouch chaired the Indiana
14 Main Street Council, INvets, and the Civic Education
15 Commission;
16 Whereas, During her tenure in public service, Lieutenant
17 Governor Crouch received numerous awards, including the
18 Edgewater Health Leadership Award, and was named the
19 Indiana Association of County Commissioner's Friend of Local
20 Government, the Trine University Woman of Distinction, the
21 Indianapolis Business Journal Woman of Influence, and the
22 Purdue University College of Liberal Arts Distinguished
23 Alumna;
24 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Crouch is married to Larry
25 Downs, and together they have a daughter, Courtney; and
26 Whereas, Lieutenant Governor Crouch's steadfast
27 leadership as President of the Indiana Senate, passion for
28 public service, and unwavering dedication to the citizens of
29 Indiana will be greatly missed by all within the Indiana Senate
30 and throughout the Statehouse: Therefore,

1 Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the
2 State of Indiana:
3 SECTION 1. That the Indiana Senate honors Lieutenant
4 Governor Suzanne Crouch upon her retirement and thanks her
5 for her many years of leadership and service to the Indiana
6 Senate and the State of Indiana.
7 SECTION 2. The Secretary of the Senate is hereby directed
8 to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Lieutenant Governor
9 Suzanne Crouch.
