SENATE BILL NO. 106

Brief*
SB 106 would reconcile amendments to statutes that were amended more than once
during the current and prior legislative sessions. For such statutes, the bill would repeal one
version and, if necessary, amend the continuing version with noncontradictory amendments,
creating a single version of the statute containing all amendments.
Conference Committee Action
The Conference Committee agreed to remove the contents of SB 106 that originally
contained provisions related to counterfeit and nonfunctional automotive safety features and
permitted lighting equipment and insert the provisions of HB 2473, as introduced by the House
Committee on Appropriations, relating to reconciling statutes and statutory amendments.
Background
SB 106 was originally introduced by the Senate Committee on Transportation. On April 27,
2023, the Conference Committee removed the contents of SB 106, as amended by the House
Committee on Transportation, and inserted the contents of HB 2473, as introduced. [Note: The
original contents of SB 106 were added to the provisions of HB 2147, which has been signed
into law.]
HB 2473 (Reconciliation Bill)
HB 2473 was introduced by the House Committee on Appropriations at the request of
Representative Hoffman, and the bill was referred to the House Committee of the Whole on
April 26, 2023. [Note: The Office of Revisor of Statutes submits a bill of this type each legislative
session to reconcile and consolidate conflicting versions of the statutes.]
