Dear Senator Erickson:

SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for SB 467 by Senate Committee on Commerce

In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning SB 467 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.

SB 467 would increase the number of voting members of the Council on Travel and
Tourism from 17 to 20 by increasing the Governor-appointed members from 11 to 14, including
six members that would be appointed to represent the public and eight would be appointed to
represent several organizations listed in the bill. The bill would also change references from the
House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources to the House Committee on Commerce,
Labor and Economic Development. In addition, the bill would decrease the percentage of moneys
granted for promotion of tourism to public entities or not-for-profit entities from 75.0 percent to
50.0 percent. The bill would also make technical corrections.

The Department of Commerce currently pays only the council members’ mileage at a cost
of $200 per person. Under SB 467, the agency would pay an additional $600 from existing
resources for the three additional members added in the bill. Legislative Administrative Services
and the Department of Agriculture indicate SB 467 would not have a fiscal effect. Any fiscal
effect associated with SB 467 is not reflected in The FY 2025 Governor’s Budget Report.

 	Sincerely,

 	Adam C. Proffitt
 	Director of the Budget
