SUBJECT: Fiscal Note for HB 2018 by House Committee on Elections
In accordance with KSA 75-3715a, the following fiscal note concerning HB 2018 is
respectfully submitted to your committee.
HB 2018 would prohibit the Secretary of State and county election officers from
disqualifying certain individuals as poll workers on the basis of residency or registered voter status
if the person is a United States citizen and an active military member, or the spouse or other
dependent of an active military member. The bill would also prohibit the disqualification of a poll
worker based on a person’s age except for current age requirements for individuals appointed as
judges and clerks of an election board.
The Secretary of State indicates HB 2018 would not have a fiscal effect on the agency’s
operations. The Kansas Association of Counties indicates HB 2018 would not have a fiscal effect
on the counties.
